In the medieval era, the famous Kingdom of Lithanis was pursuing a policy of territorial expansion. However, there existed a troublesome nation for Lithanis — a small country ruled by beings known as Grim. Due to a contract established long ago between humans and these otherworldly beings, humans were granted inviolability against Grim. Consequently, in order for the Kingdom of Lithanis to further expand its territory, it had to circumvent Grim, which proved to be quite a hindrance. Lithanis decided to launch an invasion against Grim. However, since they could not openly attack, they planned to hire a strong mercenary group to carry out the assault.
