The player becomes a "Gochoku," a protector specializing in the extermination of spirits and monsters, and will be tasked with eliminating the impurities that have emerged due to the weakened seals and the demonic aura leaking out. In the game, players will flip panels to search for and exterminate these impurities. Each time an impurity is defeated, experience points are gained, which can be used for upgrades at the shrine. At the shrine, a healing priestess named Shizuka will heal the Gochoku's wounds.
