Life under the cruel orphanage director, Tigra Ann, is harsh and lonely. Nevertheless, the two find their own small joys and manage to get through their days. However, there is an unavoidable rule at the orphanage: "If a child turns 10 without being adopted, they will be transformed into an animal and sold." As Makuna approaches her 10th birthday, she begins to think about the miraculous being known as "Fairy Bell." Fairy Bell is said to guide children in difficult circumstances to the land of eternal happiness, "Endless Land." When she sincerely believes in Bell and seeks salvation, a miracle occurs. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Makuna. I've come to help." With those words, Bell leads Makuna to the promised land of eternal happiness, "Endless Land," under the condition that she will "never grow up."
