The Thieves Abolition Edict is a directive to permanently abolish the profession of thief, confiscating the special skill acquisition title wristbands from the kingdom. The kingdom primarily manages various professions, and thieves had been distributed as necessary for the fight against the Demon King’s army. Those who held the profession of thief were forced to change careers, and while some complied, a portion of thieves who could not accept this directive continued to resist the kingdom. Violet, the master thief who was part of the hero party that is said to have defeated the Demon King’s army, was not exempt from this abolition edict. After defeating the Demon King’s army, Violet lived happily in the safest town with the lowest monster level, the Town of Beginnings, with her daughter Anna. However, after the Thieves Abolition Edict six years later, Violet suddenly went missing. Anna, Violet's daughter, was entrusted to the information merchant Tagami, who was an acquaintance of Violet. Fourteen years after her mother Violet's disappearance, Anna, now an adult, resolved to search for her missing mother while working as a detective. One day, Anna received a request from the information merchant Tagami for her first cave exploration mission.
