In the 1980s, due to certain circumstances, Satsuki Toriumi and her sister-in-law Ichiko Toriumi move from Honshu to Narumi Island, where their aunt Himiko Toriumi lives for the New Year. Having lived in the city, the two feel bewildered by the island's unique customs and regional characteristics, but gradually they become accustomed to the islanders while being raised by their aunt. Desires lead to death — One morning, Satsuki is told by her aunt Himiko, "You must not go outside tonight," and she feels suspicious about this day known as "Kamikakushi Day." On Narumi Island, it is said that on the night when the moon is half full, ghosts and monsters roam around Zone C. Curious and fearless, Satsuki decides to defy Himiko's stern warning and explores the mountains alone to uncover the island's hidden seven wonders. --- "Sad news, but you won't last long from here on..." — The feeling of being cornered and the mystery of the "Guardian's Proof" During the transfer procedures at the nearly-abandoned "Narita Academy," Satsuki and Ichiko are required by a teacher to wear a mysterious necklace known as the "Guardian's Proof," which they must keep hidden under their clothes. Amidst this, after finishing a church event for the island's traditional religion, "Sylvia Faith," they encounter a blonde student and a gloomy boy wearing black-rimmed glasses just outside. The boy with glasses holds the Guardian's Proof and ominously suggests to Satsuki, who lacks faith, "You won't last long," before disappearing into the residential area. --- ◆ Character Introductions ⋗ Satsuki Toriumi (鳥海 冷月) A mysterious protagonist with an unknown background who moved to Narumi Island from Tokyo with her sister-in-law Ichiko due to certain circumstances. She generally trusts no one but Ichiko. She harbors a strong trauma and conflict regarding religion and shows intense dislike towards her aunt Himiko, who practices the Sylvia Faith. Her catchphrase is "I guess..." ⋗ Ichiko Toriumi (鳥海 市子) Satsuki's sister-in-law and sub-protagonist. She has a gentle, understanding, and well-mannered personality.
