Shortly thereafter, a contact war with the "alien species" began. A great deal of blood was shed on both sides, and at the same time, grotesque life forms released by the "alien species" began to appear in the border town of Madorokiasu. These creatures were later named "Nonasomi species." Eventually, as the battles came to an end and the wounds and sorrows of the people began to heal, the presence of the "alien species" re-emerged in the sky like a lingering souvenir. They did not possess a physical form, nor did they launch any attacks; however, the people living in the city feared the mere sight of "it" floating in the sky. At the same time, a mysterious strange disease began to emerge in the city. In response, the government severed the transportation network between this border town and the mainland, isolating the city by restricting the movement of people and goods, thereby creating a closed quarantine space.
