Additionally, their bodies experience metabolic decline and begin to decay. In Japan, they are referred to as "hihiru" or "kusare," once revered but gradually avoided over time. —Eventually, "hihiru" became a subject of medical concern and was named "Furan Syndrome." And in the early Taisho era, Dr. Shuhei Katori lamented the backwardness of the environment and systems surrounding Furan Syndrome compared to other countries, and began research aimed at improvement. A young physician, Masamitsu Chikusa, participated in this research. Originally a student with no connection to Furan Syndrome, Takeo Amano.
