In the dazzling city of Kabukicho, a decaying slum known as Shinjuku Kowloon spreads nearby. It is a place where the impoverished, outcasts, and those exiled from their countries gather—Shinjuku Kowloon has grown by consuming the lives and desires of various people. In this city, there is a man who buries lives, "Kousei Hiiro." What is the reason he continues to bury lives? The value of each life intersects in this city— Character Introductions ● Kousei Hiiro (CV: Tomokazu Seki) A man who runs a funeral home in Shinjuku Kowloon. Those who have met illegal deaths gather at his place, and he himself lives every day with a target on his back. He possesses two unique abilities: "immortality" from having entrusted his life to another, and "hearing the voices of spirits" due to his lifeless body. However, these abilities are only effective within Shinjuku, as he "will die if he leaves Shinjuku." He is immortal, yet a man trapped in Shinjuku. He searches for the one to whom he entrusted his life and continues to bury lives here today. "Do you think I will die? Or do you think there's still a chance to survive?" ● Rinon Rokudo (CV: Yui Ishikawa) A ghostly girl who seems to be haunting Kousei. Her form can only be seen by Kousei, and her voice can only be heard by him. She appears unexpectedly and disappears just as quickly, but she has spent nearly ten years with Kousei. Being a spirit allows her to communicate with other spirits. With a cool demeanor, she often speaks in a cold and merciless manner. She lives in this city as Kousei's good partner. "Kousei, this is annoying, so let’s burn it quickly." ● Ten'i Ikegase (CV: Yoko Hikasa) The section chief of the Public Security Bureau's Foreign Affairs Division. She requests Kousei to handle the investigation of incidents occurring in the Shinjuku area and the processing (funerals) of corpses through administrative channels. Hailing from Shinjuku Kowloon, she has witnessed the history of Shinjuku. She enjoys the chaotic society of Kabukicho and Shinjuku Kowloon. She has known Kousei since childhood and used to hang out with him and another friend, the Chinese mafia member Yuuen. Despite their differing social standings now, they maintain a good relationship as both work partners and friends. "Come on, don’t use state power so casually." ● Yuuen Hu (CV: Go Otsuka) The head of the China mafia group, Wuhao, in the city. He is usually cheerful and light-hearted, but he also has a serious side. He is a childhood friend of Kousei and Ten'i. Born and raised in this city, he became a mafia member as destiny would have it. He believes in committing crimes but not in being cruel. "Don’t take it the wrong way; this is the rule..." ● Mashiro Niiza (CV: Arisa Hirano) A deaconess working at the church in the city. In some ways, she is a somewhat eccentric clergyman, but otherwise, she has a serious personality with a humorous side. She has strong spiritual sensitivity and is the only one who notices the existence of the ghost Linne. "As an envoy of God, I’m just here to save souls..." ● Sumire Senba (CV: Toshie Yagihashi) A university student and the daughter of Senba. She has known Kousei and the others for a long time, but she usually lives in the city. She has a gentle and kind personality towards everyone. Due to her overprotective father, she has a somewhat sheltered and naïve demeanor. She loves to travel and always brings back souvenirs for Kousei and the others. "Yes, I just came back from Hawaii again." ● Juro Senba (CV: Chihiro Nishimori) The only priest in the city and the president of the funeral home where Kousei works. A former yakuza, he is caring and practically runs an organization. He has many anecdotes, including having killed 100 people, and is respected as a powerful figure in this city. He dotes on his daughter, Sumire. "I have buried hundreds of unclaimed bodies so far..." ● Jou Magaki (CV: Seiichi Okuma) A former yakuza businessman. He is currently the representative and operator of the church. His rational and calm personality makes him hate trouble the most. He views Mashiro and the church as mere tools for work. "It’s all agreed upon with the other party. I’m not taking lives." ● Mysterious Woman (CV: Reina Miyata) A ghostly woman who suddenly appeared before Kousei when he was attacked by thugs and on the verge of death during his high school days. Although Kousei's life was saved afterward, the identity of the ghostly woman remains a mystery to this day. "I entrust your life to others..."
