―A Story of the Mysterious Village Painted in Love Colors― ■Synopsis In a deserted village deep in the mountains, far from human habitation, youkai quietly reside. Surrounded by towering mountains, with old earthen walls and wooden houses, it feels as if time has stopped in this ancient village. The story follows a boy named Riku, who lives in the village's clinic. Riku shares his life with the young doctor, known as "Waka-sensei," and his pet cat, an elderly cat called "Shishou-san." Riku is the only human child in this village of youkai. Having lost his parents at a young age, he has been raised by youkai. Under their warm watch, Riku has lived a relaxed life in this village without feeling lonely. A small incident occurs in this idyllic village, which makes one forget the flow of time. One beautiful evening, Waka-sensei brings home a girl named Yuna, who has wandered into the village. Yuna is a cheerful girl with curly eyes who seems to have lost her parents and doesn't know where she came from or where to go back. Since she has no way to contact her parents, it is decided that she will stay at the clinic until they are found, and Riku takes it upon himself to look after her. Determined to care for Yuna as the youkai have cared for him, Riku embraces this new responsibility. This story takes place as summer ends and autumn begins. ■Characters ● Riku A kind-hearted boy with a bit of a clumsy side. He is gentle and can interact with anyone without prejudice. However, his kindness sometimes leads to indecisiveness, and he often receives scoldings from his childhood friend Rin. Having lost his parents at a young age, he has been raised by youkai. He knows he is human but has chosen the path of youkai, aspiring to become one someday. Perhaps due to being raised by youkai, he possesses the ability to see through others' malice. ● Yuna (CV: Ami Machida) A girl who wandered into the village one day. She is always smiling and cheerful. She clings to Riku, unable to feel satisfied unless she is with him. She has a bright and positive personality and comforts Riku with a smile when he feels down. She doesn't dwell on problems and always lifts everyone's spirits. However, she is somewhat of a loner and quickly becomes anxious when alone, often refusing to let go of Riku's hand while sleeping. ● Rin (CV: Tamaki Kozuka) A cat youkai who was raised alongside Riku and is said to be the same age as him. She has a personality that is the complete opposite of Riku, being straightforward and blunt. However, she can be a bit impatient and sometimes digs her own grave with her quick judgments. She attends Aozora School with Riku and learns various things together. She runs a general store called "Suzunariya" in the village and always works there after school. Sometimes she helps Riku with the store. ● Sayuki (CV: Izumi Maki) An apprentice snow woman (yukionna) who has come to bring winter to the village. She is still inexperienced. Although she visits the village every year, she doesn't seem to get along well with the youkai who dislike winter. Her personality is quiet, but she doesn't express her feelings much, making it hard to understand what she is thinking. Sometimes she is excluded in the village, so Riku often protects and interacts with her. ● Aya (CV: Kanami Kono) The land deity of the village, claiming to be a nine-tailed fox, although she clearly does not have nine tails. She is quite laid-back and doesn't care about the details. Like many inari, she loves sake, especially nihonshu. While she doesn't get upset if traditional events or offerings are neglected, she becomes extremely angry if the offering of sacred sake is slighted, to the point of threatening the village's existence. She runs Aozora School, teaching still-inexperienced youkai and Riku. ● Waka-sensei The town doctor who runs the clinic. He is the biggest mystery in this village filled with youkai and secrets. He can appear human, yet Riku does not know what kind of youkai he truly is. He is kind-hearted and considerate of others, very observant, and undoubtedly the most reliable presence for Riku in the village. It is said that Riku's gentle nature is inherited from Waka-sensei. However, he is so kind that it is hard to discern what he is truly thinking, and his elusive demeanor means that no one in the village knows his true feelings. ● Shishou-san A large elderly cat residing in Riku's clinic. Much older than Riku, he is referred to as "Shishou-san" with respect and affection. He seems able to converse with Waka-sensei and other youkai, and they all regard this elderly cat with respect. ● Gen A classmate from Aozora School. He insists that he is not much older than Riku and Yuna, but his deep voice and robust build make him look like an older man. It is a taboo to question his appearance and age. ● Ao (CV: Yasura Chatani) A classmate from Aozora School. He has a unique presence and appears by Riku's side without notice. His personality is a bit harsh, and he often treats Sayuki poorly. ● Kaneko (Shippu/Tatsumi/Nagi) A familiar serving Aya. A wind youkai who can freely manipulate the wind. He is often overworked by Aya and seems to have a tough time. He primarily listens to Aya's commands but also plays a role in caring for the village in ways that Aya cannot reach.
