■Synopsis In a near-future where medical advancements have surged, the survival rate of the population has increased, but birth rates have declined. The government, concerned about this trend, has enacted a law allowing self-cloning for men and women up to the age of 29. The protagonist lives a somewhat aimless life as a self-employed (SE) individual in a rental apartment near the station, just outside the city center. "If this continues, I won’t be able to get married. With no parents or siblings, living alone is... well, you know." However, the reflection in the mirror is hardly impressive. Moreover, the complexities of understanding women and the process of truly connecting with them seem overwhelmingly tedious. "Is there anyone who can understand me, know me, and be my partner... someone like myself?" With that thought in mind, the protagonist acts quickly. Under the government's official self-cloning program, after being lightly anesthetized and undergoing a scan, he thinks... "...Why not create a clone of myself (a wife)?" Thus begins the story of me and my clone— --- **Characters** ● Akito Jingu A 27-year-old virgin with no dating history. He is a programmer who feels the pressure of approaching adulthood. Although he has given up on marriage due to the hassle of human relationships, he decides to apply for the government-sanctioned cloning program on a whim, as there were few applicants. To his surprise, he ends up creating a clone girl of himself.
